Bitcoin Stabilizes Above $78,500 Amid August Gains
Bitcoin's price has stabilized above $78,500 after a volatile day on August 31. The cryptocurrency had dipped as low as $77,024 earlier in the evening but rebounded to reclaim $78,000 by 1:25 a.m. EST.
Despite the marginal loss of 0.6% since 12 p.m., Bitcoin's market capitalization remains at $1.57 trillion. The price action on August 31 has left the cryptocurrency poised to end the month with near-flat performance, still on track to gain around 25% in August.
August's gains have significantly reduced Bitcoin's overall losses for 2026, trimming them from nearly 30% at the end of July to over 10%. The recovery in August has been a welcome respite after a tumultuous summer of price fluctuations.
