Bitcoin Stabilizes Around $79K as Zcash ETF Demand Weighs Against Rate Hike Bets
Bitcoin's price stabilized slightly on September 9, hovering around $78,900 after earlier dips to near $77,600. The bounce back is attributed to renewed interest in crypto exchange-traded products (ETPs), particularly Grayscale's newly launched spot Zcash ETF.
The Zcash ETF, trading under the ticker ZCSH, allows investors to gain exposure to Zcash through a standard brokerage account without needing a crypto wallet or exchange account. This structure has expanded institutional access to the token, which previously required more hands-on custody arrangements.
Grayscale's Zcash ETF surpassed $500 million in assets just two weeks after its August 25 debut on NYSE Arca, coinciding with Bitcoin's rebound from $77,600. However, traders are increasingly betting on a Fed rate hike at the September 15-16 meeting, which could pull prices down.
Three paths look plausible for BTC: a bull case where sustained ETP interest and benign inflation prints push prices back toward $82,000; a base case where Bitcoin holds around $79,000 while traders wait out Thursday's and Friday's inflation releases; or a bear case where a hotter-than-expected inflation print sends prices back to the $77,600 low.
