Bitcoin Stalls at $80,000 as Inflation Concerns Weigh on Price Action

Bitcoin has paused at the $80,000 threshold after failing to break through. The cryptocurrency reached its highest level since May 11 on July 25, hitting $81,255 before experiencing sharp volatility and profit-taking.

The recent price action is being weighed down by a hotter-than-expected U.S. inflation reading, which has tempered expectations for Federal Reserve rate cuts in September. This has strengthened the dollar and dampened risk appetite for Bitcoin.

The high leverage in derivatives markets is also contributing to volatility, with open interest reaching $140.9 billion and 24-hour liquidation volumes surging 128%.
