Bitcoin Stalls Below $78K Amid Rising Volatility and Heavy Liquidations
Bitcoin's price stalled below $78,000 after a rapid climb, and analysts are warning of extreme market volatility. Long-term holders have been selling their coins at an average loss of 20%, which could put pressure on a rally by adding more supply to the market.
However, strong demand from ETFs has helped support the market. Over four days, Bitcoin ETFs bought $1.61 billion in new positions, with spot Bitcoin ETFs recording $307 million in net inflows on August 21 alone.
The recent liquidation figures are also a concern, as over $1.6 billion was liquidated over a 24-hour period, including $866 million in long positions and $797 million in short positions. Market analyst Darkfost warned that the market is unlikely to move higher in a straight line due to the amount of liquidity sitting below the current market level.
The Bitcoin price remains caught between strong ETF demand and rising volatility, with the next move dependent on whether buyers can keep absorbing supply while traders deal with the large amount of liquidity below the market.
