Bitcoin Stays Steady as Senate Delays Crypto Clarity Act Vote
The price of Bitcoin remains steady around $64,300 this week after the Senate delayed its vote on the Crypto Clarity Act until at least September.
The bill would provide regulatory clarity for digital assets in the US, but it needs 60 votes to pass and currently lacks even 50. Several Republican senators publicly oppose the measure, while Democrats push for stricter rules to prevent President Donald Trump from profiting from crypto.
XRP is the weakest large-cap asset over the past week, down more than 2% on the day to $1.02 and 5.5% for the week. Other majors see minor declines or flat performance.
Spot bitcoin funds received approximately $626 million between Aug. 3 and Aug. 5, supporting prices near $64,000, but macroeconomic data next week could drive significant moves in Bitcoin's price.
