Bitcoin Steadies Above $64,600 Amid Mixed Crypto Market
Bitcoin stabilized above $64,600 on Thursday, as buyers defended a dip in price earlier in the week. Despite some volatility, optimism remains centered around Bitcoin rather than the broader cryptocurrency market.
The value of major cryptocurrencies was mixed, with ether rising over 1% to $1,904 but still down 0.7% over seven days. In contrast, XRP fell almost 3% to $1.04 and BNB slipped over 1% to $595. Solana dropped nearly 1% to around $74, while dogecoin also declined to 7 cents.
However, Hyperliquid's HYPE token bucked the trend, posting a strong weekly gain of over 4%. Alex Kuptsikevich of FxPro noted that Bitcoin has gained momentum since Monday, when buyers stepped in during a dip toward $62,500 and pushed price back above the 50-day moving average.
The equity market provided a less-than-helpful backdrop, with the MSCI All Country World Index falling 0.2% as chipmakers retreated on both sides of the Pacific. Korea's Kospi dropped 4.4%, led by SK Hynix and Samsung losses. In contrast, Gold rose 0.4% to its strongest since June.
