Bitcoin Steadies as Markets Shift Attention to Upcoming Events
Bitcoin is holding steady in the $76,000 - $78,000 range after today's US CPI data release. The monthly Base CPI reading came in at 0.3% YoY, slightly above market expectations of 0.2%. Despite this, Bitcoin didn't panic and markets are shifting attention to upcoming events like the September Fed decision and congressional midterm elections.
The outcome of the midterm elections may have a limited impact on Bitcoin's price. However, a Republican victory in both chambers could provide support for the cryptocurrency, potentially increasing the likelihood of expanding the strategic BTC reserve suggested by Trump. This scenario could also benefit other cryptocurrencies like Ethereum and companies focused on blockchain infrastructure.
Bitcoin's technical setup is also worth noting. The 50-day EMA has crossed above the 200-day average, forming a 'golden cross' that suggests a more durable return of the uptrend. However, this signal does not guarantee a lack of further declines, and a pullback towards $66,000-$68,000 remains possible.
