Bitcoin Steady Near $79,000 as Altcoin Rally Cools
The Bitcoin price held steady near $79,000 as most major altcoins retreated from their recent rallies. The leading cryptocurrency recorded a relatively mild daily decline of 2% over 24 hours, with its weekly gain remaining at 23%. This is in contrast to the wider group of assets, which saw 15 out of 16 non-stable coins decline during the same period.
The median move among these altcoins was approximately -3.8%, with Ether trading at $2,465 after a 1.7% daily decline and remaining 29% higher for the week. Despite the short-term pullback, every asset in the group still carried a positive seven-day return.
However, the size of each giveback tells a different story, with some assets absorbing more damage than others. The final column of a table provided by CoinMarketCap shows how deeply the latest move cut into the rally, with Cardano and Stellar facing greater damage to their short-term momentum.
