Bitcoin Stumbles at $80K as Short-Term Sellers Take Profit
Bitcoin's rally to $80,000 hit a roadblock as the price fell from $79,473 to $75,568. The rejection near the psychological barrier coincided with a sharp rise in Bitcoin sent to exchanges, indicating profit-taking by short-term holders.
The influx of 53,000 coins into exchanges over three days represents a 23% increase and is primarily driven by short-term capital. Binance received 17,800 BTC, its largest Short-Term Holder (STH) inflow since February, with every transferred coin coming from wallets holding BTC for less than one day.
Notably, Long-Term Holders (LTH) did not participate in this selling frenzy, suggesting that the rally is driven by speculative turnover rather than committed accumulation. The Binance Spot Delta was rapidly declining towards -$11.6 billion while the price was rising, indicating a narrow and liquid market.
However, Bitcoin's ETF demand remains strong, with U.S. Bitcoin ETFs seeing $1.92 billion in capital flow into them over the past five days. This influx of capital is crucial to maintaining support for the current rally.
