Bitcoin Surge Fails to Convince Schiff: MicroStrategy Still Vulnerable
Michael Saylor's MicroStrategy has seen its stock price rebound alongside Bitcoin's recent surge above $80,000. The stock traded near $137.40 on Thursday, but Peter Schiff remains skeptical of the company's strategy.
Schiff argues that part of the rally may be driven by short covering rather than a meaningful improvement in MicroStrategy's fundamentals. He described Strategy as vulnerable to a potential 'death spiral' due to its preferred-stock obligations and dependence on favorable capital-market conditions.
MicroStrategy has increased its financial flexibility by creating a $1.6 billion cash pool for Bitcoin purchases, stock buybacks, and other treasury operations. This move weakens the immediate death-spiral argument, although the company remains highly exposed to Bitcoin volatility.
