Bitcoin Surges 26% After Record Short Squeeze
Bitcoin's price has surged about 26% from its mid-August low after a short-liquidation event triggered a rebound. According to Glassnode, this move on August 19 produced the largest one-day liquidation event since 2019.
The majority of these short-liquidations were due to positions held by investors across major centralized exchanges. The total number of liquidations is likely higher because the data only accounts for transactions on Hyperliquid.
After this significant price jump, Bitcoin's market capitalization has surpassed $2.73 trillion, with a 24-hour spot volume exceeding $17.74 billion and a daily increase of 0.56%.
