Bitcoin Surges Above $76,000 Amid CLARITY Act Optimism
Bitcoin has broken above its recent price doldrums, trading around $76,000 after topping $78,000 earlier today. This surge comes just a week after Bitcoin was trading in the low sixties.
The bulls are back in charge, fueled by positive comments on the potential passage of the CLARITY Act, which is scheduled for a vote in the Senate around September 15th. The bipartisan bill would establish a bespoke regulator regime for digital assets and protect consumers.
Comments from President Donald Trump at a meeting with crypto insiders at the White House yesterday touted the expected bipartisan support for the legislation. Additionally, recent rulemaking from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has contributed to the rally, declaring that they will establish new rules for crypto.
However, some analysts caution that a hostile administration could undo these changes. Bitfinex Analyst Team notes that squeeze-led rallies tend to leave an open question about whether they can continue, but predicts this one has legs due to significant ETF demand and the absence of heavy selling.
