Bitcoin Surges Above $80,000 as Dollar Weakness Boosts Momentum
Bitcoin's value surged above $80,000 on Tuesday as concerns about the U.S. dollar's strength boosted momentum in the cryptocurrency sector.
The world's largest cryptocurrency rose 16% since last week, when President Donald Trump called on Congress to pass a bill that would provide clearer definitions for the growing cryptocurrency market.
Tim Sun, senior researcher at HashKey Group, said that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's messaging has reinforced the market's view that U.S. policymakers may have a lower tolerance for a further rise in long-end yields.
This has created a relatively supportive macro backdrop for assets such as Bitcoin and gold, which has also risen to a three-month high due to dollar weakness.
