Bitcoin Surges Above $80,000 but Faces Uncertain Future
Bitcoin has broken above $80,000 for the time being, but its staying power remains uncertain.
The cryptocurrency surged by as much as 4% on Thursday, as stocks rose and Treasury yields fell.
This price increase coincided with comments from Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller, who signaled that he would support keeping interest rates unchanged if inflation continues to ease.
However, demand for Bitcoin remains inconsistent. Inflows into US-listed spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) picked up in August but have shown uneven patterns, including two days of sizable outflows in the past week.
