Bitcoin Surges as Investors Flock to Safe-Haven Assets Amid Market Volatility
Bitcoin is on track for its third consecutive weekly gain as investors flock to the cryptocurrency in search of safe haven amid turbulent markets. The US Treasury's move to increase purchases of long-dated Treasuries has contributed to a decline in bond yields, a weakening dollar, and rising prices for Bitcoin and gold.
The 'debasement trade' is driving investor interest in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, according to Dominika Nestarckova, executive director of digital assets at Goldman Sachs. This strategy involves moving away from the US dollar and into assets such as cryptocurrencies or gold.
Bitcoin's price has broken above $70,000, reaching a high of $82,272.31 on Thursday night, its highest level since May 11 when it touched $82,499.99. Ethereum and Solana have also seen significant gains, with Ethereum reaching a high of $2,545.62 and Solana jumping to around $105.70.
The cryptocurrency market is experiencing volatility, but Bitcoin's resilience is a testament to its growing appeal as a safe-haven asset. As the global economy grapples with macroeconomic pressures, investors are turning to cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin for stability and growth potential.
