Bitcoin Surges Past $76,000 Amid US Treasury Announcement and Trump's CLARITY Act Push
Bitcoin has broken out of a three-month sideways channel and surged over 22% in less than three days, reaching $76,534 on Friday morning. This rally was sparked by the US Treasury's announcement to increase liquidity support buyback operations for longer-dated nominal coupon securities and a remark by President Donald Trump urging Congress to pass the CLARITY Act.
Trump's statement emphasized the need for the US to remain the 'undisputed leader' in Bitcoin, cryptocurrency, and artificial intelligence to prevent China from dominating these spaces. The broader cryptocurrency market responded positively to this development, with top altcoins such as Ethereum gaining over 22%, XRP surging 35%, and Solana increasing by 19%.
However, despite the optimism surrounding the CLARITY Act, users remain cautious about the sustainability of Bitcoin's rally. The fact that structural optimism may have been priced into the current rally remains an underlying factor in this concern. Additionally, analysts believe that the capital intervention mentioned in the US Treasury's announcement is relatively small and may only provide short-lived relief to bond yields.
