Bitcoin Surges Past $79,000 on Eased US Regulation Hopes
Bitcoin is on the rise, reaching nearly $80,000 due to hopes of eased U.S. cryptocurrency regulation and favorable financial conditions. According to Kiwoom Securities, bitcoin's sudden gains can be attributed to 'easing uncertainty over U.S. crypto regulation'.
The brokerage pointed out that while expectations for the passage of the CLARITY Act within the year remain limited, the U.S. Treasury unveiled a new securities issuance framework called 'Regulation Crypto Assets,' which lays out specific standards for token issuance and fundraising under current securities law.
U.S. President Donald Trump referred to the CLARITY Act's passage at a White House event, emphasizing the expansion and onshoring of cryptocurrency and blockchain businesses in the United States.
Financial conditions are also seen as having worked in favor of the rally, with the debasement trade coming back into focus as the U.S. Treasury announced an expanded buyback of medium- and long-term government bonds.
