Bitcoin Surges Past $80,000 Amid US Treasury's Bond Yield Battle
The price of Bitcoin has surpassed $80,000 as market sentiment remains bullish. This comes as the US Treasury continues to combat high yields in the long-dated bond market.
A recent report from The Kobeissi Letter suggests that the US Treasury may double down on its efforts to curb its $40 trillion debt and lower yields. This could involve selling short-term debt, eliminating long-dated bonds, and other measures.
According to Martin Tobias, a US interest-rate strategist, officials have been exploring ways to use surplus cash, with Morgan Stanley estimating that the Treasury may have $80 billion to $200 billion available for larger buybacks. This has led some analysts to predict that Bitcoin's price could extend its rally, potentially reaching $90,000.
The technical outlook also supports a bullish bias, with Bitcoin's 50-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA) and 200-day EMA both being surpassed. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is near 83, indicating an overbought condition that could lead to corrective pullbacks.
