Bitcoin Surges Past $80,000 as Crypto Markets Rebound
Crypto markets have seen a rebound in recent days, with Bitcoin pushing above $80,000 for the first time in over three months. As of early evening on August 25, the lead cryptocurrency gained 0.3% to $78,932.12.
The total crypto market cap increased by 0.5% to $2.22 trillion. Ethereum fell 0.5% to $2,460.57, while Solana rose 1.8% to $97.93.
The rapid rise in Bitcoin's price has caught some short-sellers off guard, with over $7 billion in short crypto positions liquidated in the past week. Increased institutional demand and fears of a weaker dollar have contributed to this surge.
