Bitcoin Surges Past $80,000 as Dovish Fed Remarks Spark Market Rally
A $2,400 price jump propelled Bitcoin's value above $80,000 after Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller said he favors keeping interest rates unchanged at the September 15-16 meeting if August inflation data shows price growth is cooling.
The comments led to a 12 percentage point drop in the chance of a September rate hike, from 66.6% to 54.6%, according to CME FedWatch data.
This shift in market expectations contributed to a decline in the U.S. dollar index by 0.5%, while bond yields fell and gold prices gained 2.3%.
The increased liquidity is beneficial for Bitcoin and crypto markets, allowing prices to rise without significant resistance.
