Bitcoin Surges Past $80K to Regain Top Spot as Best-Performing Asset
Bitcoin has reclaimed its top spot as the best-performing major asset over the past decade, narrowly edging out Nvidia Corp. in a stunning reversal of fortunes.
According to widely followed Bitcoin investor and analyst Mark Harvey, the cryptocurrency's 10-year return stands at an impressive 13,491%, surpassing Nvidia's 13,428% gain.
This is a significant turn of events, as Nvidia has actually outperformed Bitcoin in recent years. However, when looking at the Sharpe Ratio, which measures risk-adjusted returns, Bitcoin's score stood at 7, indicating positive returns above the risk-free rate, while Nvidia's ratio was -1.20, suggesting lower expected returns.
Other major assets, such as Microsoft Corp. and Amazon.com Inc., also delivered strong gains over the past decade, with Microsoft's stock rising by 740% and Amazon's by 591%. Gold, on the other hand, underperformed, gaining just 248% in the last 10 years.
