Bitcoin Surges Past Fair Value Gap Amid Fiscal Dominance Concerns
Bitcoin broke through its weekly fair value gap, rallying $14,000 in just four days and liquidating $4 billion worth of short positions. This marked the largest short liquidation streak on record and added over $250 billion to Bitcoin's market cap.
The rally began after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that the department would double the size of its long-term bond buyback program, reigniting concerns about fiscal dominance.
Analyst Matthew Sigel of VanEck pointed out that this decision is the real driver behind the move, rather than progress on the Clarity Act. The Act remains stalled in the Senate due to a dispute over ethics provisions.
The next challenge for Bitcoin will be absorbing the liquidity sitting between $82,850 and $86,074.72, which would confirm that this move has staying power beyond the initial spike.
