Bitcoin Surges to $80K as Warsh Warns of Higher Rates and SOL ETF Hits $1 Billion
Bitcoin's price surged to $80,000 this week after a strong rally that saw it climb about 24% in seven days. Although the cryptocurrency struggled to break through the resistance area between $81,000 and $82,000, its return to this level marks its first time above $80,000 since May 15. The rebound has been driven by support from short liquidations and US Treasury buybacks, according to analysts.
Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's warning that interest rates could rise unless inflation returns quickly to the central bank's 2% goal also had an impact on Bitcoin's price. In his Jackson Hole speech, Warsh stated that the Fed would be 'hard pressed' to describe financial conditions as restrictive and warned that rates could increase unless inflation moves back toward the target.
Meanwhile, Bitwise's Solana staking ETF became the first SOL fund to exceed $1 billion in assets, according to Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas. The US Solana ETF category has attracted about $1.7 billion, with limited sustained redemptions despite SOL's decline during the first half of 2026.
