Bitcoin Surges to $81,000 on Weaker Dollar, ETF Inflows
Bitcoin (BTC) prices have been on the rise, briefly hitting $81,000 on August 25 and reaching its highest level since May. Three key factors are driving this increase: concerns about the US dollar, renewed demand through spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and traders closing bearish positions.
A weaker US dollar has contributed to the surge in demand for BTC. The recent announcement by the US Treasury that it will at least double the maximum size of certain long-term bond buybacks from $2 billion to $4 billion per operation weakened the dollar, causing investors to seek out risk assets like Bitcoin and gold.
US spot Bitcoin ETFs have also seen significant inflows, with around $338 million entering the funds on August 24 alone. This influx of new money can support BTC prices as fund providers buy Bitcoin to back new fund shares.
