Bitcoin Surges to New High as Dollar Weakens and ETF Demand Rises
Bitcoin's price surge to $81,000 on August 25 is driven by three key factors, according to experts. A weaker US dollar and concerns about inflation and government debt have boosted demand for Bitcoin, while spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have recorded six consecutive trading days of net inflows through August 24.
The move higher was also fueled by short liquidations as traders who had bet against Bitcoin were forced to close their positions, adding momentum to the price rise. This added $3 billion in buying pressure as these traders closed out their short positions.
Renewed demand for spot ETFs is significant, with around $338 million entering the funds on August 24 alone. However, analysts warn that investors should be cautious, as it's unclear whether this momentum will continue.
