Bitcoin Surmounts $80K as ETF Inflows and Treasury Buybacks Fuel Rally
Bitcoin has reclaimed the $80,000 mark for the first time in about three months, driven by inflows into US spot exchange-traded funds and an expansion of US Treasury buybacks. According to market watchers, Bitcoin rose as high as $81,160 during the session, its strongest weekly gain in more than two years.
The token saw a 25.8% increase over the past seven days, with inflows into US spot Bitcoin ETFs reaching $1.92 billion last week. Fabian Dori, chief investment officer at Sygnum Bank, attributes this week's advance to spot demand and institutional money flowing through ETFs rather than pure leverage.
A policy shift by the US Treasury also contributed to the rally, with the department doubling the size of its buybacks aimed at supporting liquidity in longer-dated Treasuries to $4 billion per operation. Gautam Chhugani, an analyst at Bernstein, calls this move a powerful catalyst for Bitcoin's rise.
