Bitcoin Surpasses 893K Daily Transactions Amid Low-Value Transfer Surge
Bitcoin's daily transaction count has reached its fourth-highest level in history, according to Galaxy Research. The network processed 893,391 transactions on a single day, up 23.4% from the previous day and above the 99th percentile of its historical range.
This milestone marks a significant increase in activity, more than doubling from the corresponding period last year. Low-value transfers have accounted for much of Bitcoin's transaction growth this year, with 80% of transactions being below 0.01 BTC as of August.
Galaxy Research did not attribute the increase to any specific event or group of users. However, they noted that small transfers can provide an incomplete picture when fees are low, allowing automated systems and applications to generate substantial activity without moving a comparable amount of capital.
