Bitcoin Surpasses Key Benchmark as Recovery Phase Looms
The Bitcoin market has been volatile in recent years, but its price increase over the last week suggests it may be entering a recovery phase.
Bitcoin surpassed its 200-day moving average on August 20, which is often used as a benchmark to gauge whether the market is bullish or bearish on the cryptocurrency.
This is significant because Bitcoin has historically moved in cycles lasting about four years. It experiences a bull market, reaches a new high, and then goes into a bear market that can last from several months to over a year.
In previous bear markets, Bitcoin hit lows of $152 in January 2015, $3,200 in December 2018, and $15,500 in November 2022. If the pattern holds, Bitcoin's low this cycle would happen sometime later this year.
