Bitcoin Tests $66,800 Resistance Amid Late-Stage Bear Market Signals
Bitcoin's price is currently trading within the $64,500-$64,900 USD range, reflecting a 1% gain on the day and a weekly advance exceeding 3%. The cryptocurrency has maintained the psychological $64,000 USD level, but price action remains confined to a narrowing corridor between $62,000 and $66,000 USD.
The on-chain indicators are signaling that Bitcoin is in a late-stage bear market. Glassnode's Bitcoin Cycle Position Heatmap shows 45 Bitcoin price metrics remaining in a capitulation phase for the most extended period since FTX collapsed in late 2022. The heatmap has maintained a predominantly blue coloring throughout 2026, indicating conditions consistent with a late-stage bear market.
Glassnode co-founder Rafael Schultze-Kraft noted that the indicator currently resides in its 'coldest phase since FTX, late in the bear market, but still not the unanimous deep blue that previously marked a bottom.'
The Bitcoin Cycle Composite, which condenses 45 on-chain indicators into a single score, currently registers at 19.9, within the cold zone reserved for capitulation phases. The movement has been rapid and substantial: 41 of the 45 indicators now reside within the lowest two quintiles of their historical ranges.
CryptoQuant's Adaptive Sell-side Risk Ratio provides independent confirmation. This indicator has declined to 0.031, placing it at the 3rd percentile of the current halving cycle (April 2024-present). The ratio falls below the level observed in 97% of trading days since the halving.
