Bitcoin Tests Key Resistance Zone as Momentum Wanes
Bitcoin has staged a remarkable rally, briefly trading above $81,000 before easing to around $80,700. However, this momentum is now being tested as the cryptocurrency presses into a significant resistance area that spans from roughly $82,000 to $84,000.
The 50-week average price sits near $80,800, and historical data shows that Bitcoin has previously met supply at around $82,000. The 0.382 Fibonacci retracement level also coincides with the upper end of this resistance zone, near $84,000.
As Bitcoin attempts to break through this resistance, market participants will be keeping a close eye on several key events, including Nvidia's earnings report and upcoming U.S. data releases. A strong showing by these indicators could provide further momentum for the cryptocurrency, while disappointing results may weigh on its price.
If Bitcoin fails to clear this resistance zone, the first meaningful support level would sit near $73,900, representing a Fibonacci retracement of 0.236. This would indicate that the rally's current momentum is waning and that the market needs to establish itself above the compact area where moving averages, past price action, and long-term retracements meet.
