Bitcoin Tops $80K as Crypto Market Shifts to Greed, But Fundamentals Remain Unclear
The crypto market has shifted from 'Fear' and 'Extreme Fear' to 'Greed' in just a few days, with Bitcoin topping $80K. According to the Crypto Fear and Greed Index, which was at 68, this marks the 'Greed' zone. Jean-Marie Mognetti, CEO of CoinShares, believes that the environment surrounding digital assets has become more favorable for Bitcoin, but warns that prices have not addressed fundamental problems.
The recent rally is attributed to multiple factors, including the White House meeting where President Trump urged Congress to pass a 'fair version' of the CLARITY Act. Treasury buybacks and a hawkish Fed tone also contributed to this surge in prices. However, Mognetti points out that rising prices do not validate every asset, citing the 30%+ correction in Bitcoin's price in October 2025.
The current rally has seen over 22% growth in the total crypto market cap in a week, but weekly RSI is in extremely overbought territory. Institutional demand remains strong, with spot Bitcoin ETFs seeing over $1 billion in inflows last week. However, Mognetti warns that sentiment around 75 may not yet mark peak greed or guarantee an imminent correction.
