Bitcoin Touches 200-Week Average Amid Strategy's Cryptic Behavior

Strategy, an entity that holds roughly 843,775 Bitcoin, has been tracking its 200-week moving average (MA) as a key indicator of market trends. On August 2, 2026, Michael Saylor, Strategy's executive chairman, tweeted that Bitcoin is 'almost exactly' at $63,508, the level it has spent 92% of its recorded history trading above.

The 200-week MA is a simple metric that smooths out price noise and gives a longer-term view of where prices sit relative to their trend. Three notable instances in Bitcoin's history saw it touch or dip below this average before recovering: 2015, 2018, and 2022.

However, Strategy has not added to its Bitcoin position in over a month, despite building cash reserves that have quadrupled since nine weeks earlier. Its most recent move was a $25 million buyback of STRC preferred shares using new MSTR stock, rather than deploying idle cash.
