Bitcoin Tracked by Macro Signals, Not Technical Indicators for BitMEX Co-Founder

Arthur Hayes, co-founder of BitMEX, has revealed his investment strategy for Bitcoin. According to him, he rarely uses technical indicators when investing in BTC and instead focuses on macro signals, including moves in U.S. stocks and broader market sentiment.

Hayes believes that Bitcoin is currently tracking closely with U.S. equities, making it vulnerable to selling pressure if the stock market were to collapse. He pointed out that margin calls would hit investors holding similar assets with leverage, leading them to sell their easiest-to-liquidate assets first, which could include BTC.

In an interview last month, Hayes stated that he does 'almost no technical analysis' on Bitcoin and relies primarily on macro conditions for his investment decisions. This approach suggests that he is concerned about the broader market environment rather than just focusing on short-term price movements or trends in technical indicators.
