Bitcoin Traders Shift to Short Positions Amid Macro Data Uncertainty
Bitcoin perpetual futures traders have turned slightly bearish over the past 24 hours, according to data from Binance, OKX, and Bybit. The three major crypto futures exchanges by open interest show a modest tilt toward short positioning among leveraged traders.
The aggregate long/short ratio across these platforms shows 47.71% of positions are long, while 52.29% are short. This indicates that the majority of leveraged traders expect downward price movement in the near term.
However, a high short ratio can also lead to a short squeeze if prices rise unexpectedly, causing rapid price increases. The current positioning may reflect traders' uncertainty ahead of upcoming macroeconomic data releases, including U.S. inflation figures and Federal Reserve policy signals.
