Bitcoin Trading Volumes Plunge by Over 50% During Holiday Lull
Data from Santiment released on December 30 showed that Bitcoin trading volumes have dropped to their lowest two-week period in 2025, a decline of over 50% compared to last year's holiday season.
The drop marks the quietest stretch for digital asset markets since December 2024. Major cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum, Solana, Cardano, and Dogecoin are now recording less than half their weekly trading volumes compared to late 2024, according to Santiment.
Santiment attributed the decline to flat price movement and year-end holidays pulling traders away from markets. The firm said that this reflects weaker short-term interest rather than panic selling.
