Bitcoin Trails Behind Equities as Market Cycle Remains Stagnant
Glassnode, a prominent crypto analytics firm, has observed that Bitcoin's current market performance is being driven by equities rather than itself. The reason for this is that Bitcoin has been lagging behind major indices such as the S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 over the past few months.
In fact, data from Glassnode shows that over the last 90 days, Bitcoin has dropped by a significant 20%, while the S&P 500 has risen by 5%. This divergence is even more pronounced when looking at the broader market: since January, Bitcoin has plummeted by 35%, whereas gold has surged by 60% and silver has skyrocketed by 107%.
Glassnode notes that this pattern continued over the past week, with Bitcoin remaining in a state of weakness against major indices. The firm's statement is evident in its recent tweet, which highlights the lack of correlation between Bitcoin and equities in July.
