Bitcoin Transaction Volume Surges to Fourth-Highest Level
Bitcoin's daily transaction volume reached an impressive milestone on September 7, 2026, surpassing 893,000 transactions. This marks the fourth-highest level in history, with data from Galaxy indicating that active addresses exceeded 99% and transactions surged by 23.4% compared to previous levels.
The surge was not evenly distributed, exhibiting a high degree of concentration. Small-value transfers continued to dominate, making up 80% of the total, while the fee structure remained complex. The average fee was approximately $0.19, with transaction fees comprising 8.1% of the total relevant fees.
Notably, the presence of Ordinals, Runes, and other specific blockchain protocols has further complicated the current fee structure. This development highlights the ongoing challenges in navigating the complexities of Bitcoin's network costs.
