Bitcoin Trapped at $76,000 Despite CLARITY Act Progress
Bitcoin's price remains steady at around $76,000 as investors await developments in US crypto regulations and the Federal Reserve's September meeting. The CLARITY Act, a bill to establish digital-asset market rules, is set to reach a procedural milestone in the Senate, which could boost expectations of a more durable regulatory framework. However, progress on this front may not be enough to overcome the constraints of expensive energy and high bond yields, which are currently limiting demand for Bitcoin.
The inflation squeeze is already having an impact on household budgets, with gasoline prices accounting for over a third of the August consumer price increase. Meanwhile, Brent futures have reached $107.35 a barrel, while the US ten-year Treasury par yield stands at 4.97%. The combination of these factors makes it more challenging for Bitcoin to achieve sustained buying.
A durable recovery would be easier if the forces pulling on Bitcoin start working in the same direction. This could happen if energy relief and stabilizing real yields coincide with regulatory progress. However, if disruption persists and yields remain restrictive, Bitcoin may struggle even with encouraging news from Washington.
