Bitcoin Trapped Between Bearish Signals and Whale Accumulation
Bitcoin's price action has been stuck in a horizontal channel between $57,500 and $67,300 for over two months, accompanied by declining trading volume.
The narrowing structure makes it vulnerable to a sharp move, with a breakdown remaining one possible outcome.
Crypto expert Peter Brandt believes the current trend favors further downward movement, pointing out that Bitcoin's price has struggled to recover its bullish momentum since May 2026.
However, renowned analyst Michael Van de Poppe suggests that the basis trade, which has kept traders short BTC futures for years, may be turning in favor of a price surge. According to him, the same signal that occurred in 2025 when Bitcoin surged from $75,000 to $125,000 is evident in the market now.
CryptoQuant analyst Amr Taha notes a significant shift toward Bitcoin accumulation among large holders ahead of this week's US inflation data, with addresses holding more than 10,000 BTC recording net accumulation of 46,420 BTC on August 9, nearly double its peak recorded in mid-March.
