Bitcoin Tumbles Below $63,000 Amid Weak Earnings and Fed Caution

Bitcoin started August on a cautious note as investors reacted to fresh corporate developments and persistent macroeconomic uncertainty. The world's largest cryptocurrency traded below $63,000 after falling to its lowest level in nearly two weeks.

The decline follows a period of profit booking after July's rally and growing caution among institutional investors. Despite today's weakness, Bitcoin gained nearly 7.5% during July, highlighting the asset's resilience even as macroeconomic uncertainty continues to influence the cryptocurrency market.

The latest financial results from Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) reported a significant accounting loss due to fair-value adjustments on its Bitcoin holdings, raising concerns among investors about corporate exposure to digital assets. The company also indicated it could selectively sell Bitcoin when market conditions are favourable instead of directing all available capital into continuous Bitcoin purchases.

The US Federal Reserve maintained interest rates but continued to signal caution on inflation and future policy decisions. The higher-for-longer interest rate outlook has strengthened the US dollar and reduced demand for risk-sensitive assets such as cryptocurrencies.
