Bitcoin Tumbles on Escalating Global Tensions and Inflation Data
Bitcoin plummeted to $71,135 on Wednesday after reports of military escalation near a critical global energy corridor and a higher-than-expected US inflation reading. The development raised concerns about disruptions to oil supply flows through one of the world's most important shipping routes.
Oil prices surged sharply as Brent crude futures jumped over 5% to $109 per barrel, while WTI crude rose from around $92 overnight to nearly $96.
Research analyst Carlos Guzman at crypto trading firm GSR noted that the Federal Reserve typically looks past short-term energy shocks but could be forced to hold rates higher for longer if oil prices stay elevated. This, he said, 'could overall be bad for crypto.'
