Bitcoin Volatility Soars as Fed Decision, CLARITY Act, and Fork Drama Converge
Bitcoin's price has been volatile over the past week, following a familiar pattern of buyers stepping in after last month's drop to $57,700 and then sellers taking over. The cryptocurrency traded at $64,466 on July 26, giving back most of its rally that pushed it above $66,900 earlier in the week.
The Federal Reserve's upcoming decision on interest rates has added to the market's uncertainty. Traders expect the Fed to hold rates steady at between 3.50% and 3.75%, but a hawkish surprise could push Bitcoin's price toward $61,000 or lower.
Regulatory catalysts are also in play, with the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act set for a potential floor vote before August 7. Passage of the bill would mark the biggest regulatory catalyst of the summer for institutional Bitcoin demand.
