Bitcoin vs Gold: Market Performance Tests Saylor's 'Deep Freezer' Theory
Michael Saylor's Bitcoin thesis, which compares the cryptocurrency to a 'deep freezer' that preserves wealth over time, is being put to the test by market performance. The BTC price has dropped roughly 47% over the past year and currently sits at $63,026.
In contrast, gold has climbed from around $2,000 to $4,376.60, with a gain of approximately 118%. The trend for gold remains firmly bullish as it continues to print higher highs and lower lows.
Tether's recent Q2 report shows that the company holds around 146 metric tons of gold and approximately 98,933 BTC in its reserves. This combination allows Tether to maintain exposure to both Bitcoin and gold without having to choose between them.
For the BTC price to reclaim its footing, it must break through nearby resistance levels, particularly $67,200. Until then, gold has a stronger technical setup, with potential targets of $4,800-$5,000 if it breaks above $4,500.
