Bitcoin vs. Gold: Which Asset Holds the Upper Hand?
Investors are once again debating whether Bitcoin (BTC) can replace gold as a safe-haven asset. This debate is more interesting now due to increased institutional adoption of BTC and its broader role in diversified portfolios.
The market capitalization and liquidity of gold far exceed those of BTC, but the latter has advantages when it comes to scarcity, supply, and portability. The capped supply of 21 million tokens makes BTC an attractive inflation hedge, particularly in the long run.
However, gold still holds a broader role in the world's financial system and is viewed as a reliable store of value and medium of exchange by central banks. BTC has not yet achieved the same level of institutional adoption and trust as gold.
