Bitcoin Wallet Unleashes $538K After 15-Year Slumber
A significant Bitcoin wallet has moved its assets after over 15 years of dormancy. On August 16, 8.54 BTC was transferred from an address that received the coins on June 13, 2011, when Bitcoin traded at around $14.
The estimated value of the transferred funds is approximately $538,000, representing a staggering 461,981% increase from its initial cost basis in 2011 if sold.
Galaxy Research reported that the address, beginning with '1Emi,' showed no activity for over 15 years before the single transaction was recorded in block 962,770. The transfer's purpose remains unknown, as the owner's identity and reason for moving the funds are unclear.
