Bitcoin Wallets Stir After 15-Year Slumber
A recent surge in Bitcoin (BTC) wallet activity has seen four long-dormant wallets move $15.73 million between August 29 and September 4, according to Galaxy Research's blockchain monitoring.
The largest move came from a 146.06 BTC stash, worth about $11.31 million, that had remained untouched since November 2013 and showed a gain of about 12,902% from its original cost basis near $595.
A 40 BTC wallet bought at an average price near $3 in November 2011 turned roughly $120 into about $3.09 million after nearly 15 years.
Galaxy Research linked one 6.78 BTC transfer to Coinbase, a move that can indicate an intent to sell, although moving coins alone does not prove liquidation.
