Bitcoin Warned Over Quantum Computing Vulnerability
Tom Lee, the co-founder of BitMEX's sister company, Bitmine, has expressed concerns about Bitcoin's preparedness for a potential quantum computing threat. In an interview, Lee warned that the cryptocurrency would be vulnerable to attacks from powerful computers if it doesn't develop a plan to address this issue by 2028.
Lee stated that he believes there is currently no 'quantum-resistant' encryption in place for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. He emphasized that this could lead to significant financial losses if not addressed soon enough.
The warning comes as the global cryptocurrency market continues to grapple with various challenges, including regulatory scrutiny and security concerns.
