Bitcoin Weekly RSI Echoes 2022 Bear Market Bottom
Bitcoin's price action has left traders uncertain about its future trajectory after hitting $80,000. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is providing mixed signals, with some seeing a bullish divergence similar to the one in 2022 that preceded the end of the bear market.
The weekly RSI for Bitcoin has reached 58.3, echoing the same level seen in mid-2022 when the price was still in a bearish trend. This is considered a significant indicator of potential price upside. According to Jamie Coutts, chief crypto analyst at Real Vision, 'Weekly is the timeframe that matters here, that's where you read the secular trend and the cycle inflection points.'
On the other hand, daily RSI values have reached their most 'overbought' levels since November 2024, reaching 82.93. Some market participants see this as a warning sign of an imminent reversal, while others point out that historically, Bitcoin uptrends have been accompanied by multiple 'overbought' periods.
The stochastic RSI indicator has also printed an anticipated crossover, but it avoided copying previous zero-level bear-market lows. This event is seen as a cue for bullish trend change, although the indicator only reached 4.81.
