Bitcoin Whale Profit Record Sets Stage for Rally Floor Test
Bitcoin's price rally is facing its next test as the 'whale profit' metric reaches a record high of $9.07 billion, according to an analysis by Cryptoquant. This figure represents the unrealized profit held by large wallets that acquired Bitcoin within recent months.
The metric measures the difference between an asset's current market value and its on-chain cost basis before it is sold. It shows how rapidly profitability expanded among newer large holders during BTC's climb above $80,000.
Cryptoquant contributor IT Tech described the figure as 'exposure' rather than evidence that whales had already begun realizing profits, adding that a cohort sitting on a record paper gain can turn into sellers the moment price wobbles.
