Bitcoin Whales Accumulate as Price Eyes $65,000 Breakout Amid Security Concerns
Bitcoin whales accumulated 19,610 BTC in a matter of days as smaller holders reduced their balances due to concerns over a reported Coldcard security flaw. This contrasting activity indicates large wallets are buying during a period of weaker confidence among retail investors.
Santiment noted that wallets holding between 10 and 10,000 BTC increased their holdings by 0.14% from July 29, while those holding less than 0.01 BTC cut their balances by 0.55%. The accumulation occurred across the broader group of wallets holding 10 to 10,000 BTC, not reflecting one compromised address.
According to Santiment, large players hoarded coins that were being dumped as retail confidence eroded due to security fears among those unaffected by the flaw being discussed. This trend was observed alongside a significant short-term holder capitulation, with 32,000 BTC deposited on exchanges in a single day at a loss.
Daan Crypto Trades stated that Bitcoin has entered the top part of its trend line and retraced back to its weekly 200-period moving average. A confirmed breakout from the falling wedge formation is necessary for an even bigger advance.
